Pastor Jackson approached me at a Church Management Conference. His demeanor said it all. I could see by his countenance that he was on the verge of throwing in the towel and closing his Church doors. As I talked with him he relayed to me the problem most Pastors face—not enough money to do that which he believed God had called him. Pastor Jackson’s dilemma is nothing new. Pastors suffer the most burnout of any profession and only 10% of Pastors retire from the pulpit—90% burn out and retire from a secular job. Understanding burnout probably better than most in the USA, I thought it would be helpful to address two major causes of lack of money which results in burnout and Church closure. |
